March 13, 2006

New campground rules were adopted at the March meeting of the Board of Directors after a careful review of current rules by the campground committee. The new campground rule reads as follows:

12.  All lot owners in good standing (or their guests) are authorized to use the campground at any time or for two consecutive weeks once each year during the campground season without charge.  After this period the campers, trailers and boats must be taken out of the campground.  An owner constructing a house in WSH may request a special exception from the campground committee to keep a camper or trailer in the campground during the year of construction and will be charged a fee of $50.00 per month after the first two consecutive weeks.  Other campers, trailers and boats left beyond the two consecutive week period will be charge a storage fee of $250.00 per month or any part thereof.

Note:

The campground and bathhouse will be open for the season from April 1 to November 1.  All campers and trailers will be removed from the campground from November 1 to April 1 unless a special exception has been granted to an owner while constructing a house in WSH.

Members should note the change in their "blue books."

On 1 December 2005 three roads will be taken into the state road system in White Sand Harbour.  Thanks to the continued effort of Paul Groover and Bob Ulses, Peninsula Drive, Holly Drive and Penn Court(west)will become numbered state roads and the state will be responsible for their maintenance.  That leaves only four courts, Anne, Lomar, Cubbitt and Penn (east) outside the state road system.  Until such time as each of these Courts contain three houses, they will remain under WSH responsibility. The Community thanks Paul and Bob for this tremendous effort and the improvement it brings to WSH.

The Beach Preservation and Restoration Project is progressing.  All the breakwater boxes are in the river in their configuration.  Final alignment, groin removal, sand placement and beach cleanup will take place over the next few weeks.  The Project is scheduled to be completed by 15 December 2005.  Follow the progress on the Beach Preservation link on the homepage.

The Virginia Department of Health, Division of Drinking Water has approved the reconfiguration of well # 1 on the Cubitt Creek Road well site and has lifted the moratorium on water and septic hook-ups within White Sand Harbour.  The Northumberland County Health Department is being notified by message today. The problem all along has been a paper and permit problem NOT a safety of drinking water problem.  White Sand Harbour is very fortunate to have an abundant, safe, and sweet tasting drinking water supply. We who live here appreciate that fact.

We have planted salt grass (distichlis spicata) and salt meadow hay (spartina patens) along the bulkhead at the beach.  As these grasses grow they will hold the sand and prevent it from being washed away when the storm waves break over the bulkhead.  There is a black cloth fence protecting the grasses.  PLEASE do not walk in the area between the fence and the bulkhead.    Once the grasses are established and growing, the fence will be removed.  Thank you for your consideration.  Jinny Estell, VP WSHPOA
