Special Joint session with RISOA and senior referees from CVSRA.

Joe Sheridan, USSF Area Director of Instruction, will present "The Psychology of Refereeing from teh Coach's Perspective."

Steve Wiley will present a brief seminar on Physical Fitness.

Special Guests, Peter Albright, University of Richmond Women's Soccer Coach, and Jaclyn Raveia, former 1st team All-American at the University of Richmond, NSCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and starting central defender for the Carolina Courage of the WUSA, will discuss game situations as they relate to relationships of coaches, players, and referees; game management skills; and people management skills.

Refreshments will be served

Pre-season training and information session. Delivery of information packets, assignments. Review of rules and procedures. Brief session on the dual system of control

Monday, October 7, 2002

Randolph-Macon College, Ashland. "Working with your scholastic assignors." -- jointly presented by Joe Sheridan, RISOA assignor and Bill Franz, CVSRA middle school assignor. There will also be comments from Commissioner Owen Waltman.

 

DIRECTIONS: Take I-95 north to exit 92-B, State Route 54 west toward Ashland. Cross Route 1 and then turn right onto Calhoun Street. Calhoun Street is just before the 7-11; it is the second street on the right. Go two blocks through a residential neighborhood, the Copley Science Center is now the large building on your far left. Park anywhere on the street and use any entrance. There will be signs indicating where to find Room 101.

 
Monday, November 4, 2002

Location: Collegiate High School, west Richmond.

First topic: "The Referee and the Goalkeeper." Special guest Ronnie Pascale, goalkeeper for the Richmond Kickers, goalkeeper coach for VCU, and coach of Richmond Kickers North U14 girls team.

Second topic: "Referee Mechanics." Video presentation on proper mechanics for referees, assistant referees and fourth officials.

First topic: "Rule differences between National Federation and USSF matches."

Second topic: "The gray areas" Video presentation on officiating situations in between the laws of the game.

Location: John Tyler Community College (Chester campus)

First topic: "The Restart Game"; presenter Ken Tate

Second topic: Special awards ceremony. RISOA members will receive recognition for their years of service to the association and to the Virginia High School League. Awards will be presented to all officials with five years or more of service.

Oct 6, 2003 Dominion Virginia Power Innsbrook Facility: Judging the Offside. Program will include video and a presentation on assistant referee reaction time. 7:00 p.m.
