RISOA Organization

Richmond Interscholastic Soccer Officials Association (RISOA) was formed during the fall of 1988 to organize, certify, and train interscholastic soccer referees and officials to officiate interscholastic soccer matches in the Richmond area. RISOA was formed, with the assistance of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) and the Central Region, to create an organization that met the sanctioning requirements of VHSL.

The Richmond Interscholastic Soccer Officials Association, Incorporated was incorporated as a non-stock, not-for-profit organization on November 7, 1988, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Subsequently, RISOA was approved as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501 (c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Code.

RISOA has met the sanctioning requirements of the VHSL each year since its inception.

The members of RISOA select a four person Board of Directors who manage the affairs of the association. The Board of Directors in turn selects a Commissioner who serves as the association's chief operating officer and coordinates activities with customer schools and the Virginia High School League.

RISOA is THE professional scholastic referee service in the Central Virginia area.

There will be an association meeting to discuss proposed by-law changes on February 28, 2005. The meeting will happen at James River High School prior to the annual examination. See the proposed changes by following the link at left.
